The map of disasters and humanitarian crises worldwide on the Reliefweb website is not a pretty thing - but it does tell you: you are needed. Check out the jobs link on the website to look at the wide range of jobs available, even for those just starting out in the field.

Great to meet with Mirno Pasquali  - back in the states and visiting Pittsburgh briefly before heading to Bangladesh to work. An Allegheny College graduate who entered the field 4 years ago or more!  Reiterating that some of the most important skills are the 'soft skills'  - and EXCEL! Both will be included in this summer's certificate program

Emergency Education - ever heard of it? a growing an necessary field. Thousands of children are in refugee camps right now and more will be displaced from school by disasters and emergencies. The world cannot afford to have these kids fall behind in school  - they never catch up. INEE works for standards and training in the field. They also list jobs and training on their website. Climate change is certainly already bringing about new disasters and emergencies - climate refugees, droughts, floods, etc..Beyond working in those emergencies to help when  needed, there is a new job called 'Climate Change Officer'  - helping entire organizations cope with and plan for climate changes. Once you have some training in Humanitarian Aid you can begin to look at a place like PCDN for job and internship openings. Many people begin their careers as interns and competition for those positions can be fierce!
